It Takes a Village

After years of living in extended stay motels, a Decatur-area family shared with a school staff member that they were finally able to locate an apartment with affordable monthly rent. To make their space livable, the family needed everything from furniture to kitchenwares to towels and linens. A collective effort of 18 community members contributed as donors and volunteers. The volunteers mobilized within days to design, deliver and install the family's new home on Christmas Eve. According to the matriarch of the family, "This has been the best holiday of my life and the happiest day I've had since moving to Georgia.”
